چکیده

Abstract Introduction While intake of specific macronutrients has been associated with changes in sleep parameters humans – such as macrostructure direct interventional evidence is lacking. Thus, we conducted a randomized trial to examine how consumption an unhealthy, Western diet impacts at the microstructure level humans. Methods In crossover study, 15 healthy normal-weight men consumed two isocaloric diets random order: unhealthy high-fat, high-sugar diet, and healthy, low-fat, low-sugar diet. Following each week-long in-lab was recorded using polysomnography (PSG), during full night sleep, after recovery occurring extended wakefulness. Sleep duration, (sleep oscillatory pattern slow waves) were investigated machine learning-based algorithms. Results duration did not differ across diets, based on actigraphy PSG. similar one week Compared resulted reduced delta power slow-wave amplitude, but increased alpha theta power, NREM sleep. Furthermore, also impacted direction Conclusion Short-term modulates restorative properties these persisted even into Whether can mediate adverse health outcomes warrants further investigation.
